The Story

The most massive city on the face of the world wrestles with a profound corruption. Warring political and religious factions have kept resources in the hands of the rich and powerful, and violence runs rampant in the streets of poorer city sectors. To Mordecai Simmons, this is the perfect environment in which to disappear. And he does, arriving in the city at the age of 15, leaving his past behind him, and making a name for himself as a hitman-for-hire.

By the time he grows up, he thinks of himself as an irredeemably callous individual. He is proven wrong faster than he ever thought possible, when he realizes that if he's willing to accept it, there is shelter to be found in the wings of TAB's long shadow.

About "The Asteroid Belt"

"The Asteroid Belt" is my biggest and most important project, and the story I hope to someday create a webcomic for. I've been working on development art, scripting, character design, and worldbuilding for TAB for years now, and it feels like the more I get done, the more I realize there is still left to do! But I am determined; this story means so much to me. I hope you'll follow along with my journey to bring it to life!

The intro to this story (found in the sidebar to the left) has a dark and gritty tone, but the primary themes of TAB include found family and self-growth alongside all of the dramatic urban fantasy intrigue. The story draws its inspiration from a lit-form roleplay I did with my friend and collaborator Cheri, and she made several contributions to the project including many of the character concepts as well as names for different worldbuilding phenomena.
